From the very first conversation with Dr. Youssef Tahiri and his team, my family and I knew we had found something extraordinary. After waiting 8 years for this moment, my son underwent microtia reconstructive surgery with Dr. Tahiri on July 23, 2025, and I can say with full confidence he is our true earth angel.

Meeting Dr. Tahiri in person, it is immediately clear that he was put on this earth to make a difference. His compassion, patience, expertise, and genuine passion for helping children with microtia radiates from the first moments of speaking with him. He brings a calm presence that instantly reassures both parent and child. Thanks to his incredible skill, my son is now able to hear in surround sound with full hearing in both ears for the very first time. In addition, his reconstructed ear looks absolutely perfect. There is no difference between his left and right ear, something we once only dreamed would be possible.

We are equally grateful to his amazing nurse, Shoshana, who cared for my son both before and after surgery. She is another angel on this journey, speaking to my son with such delicate kindness that his nerves melted away, while also checking in on me as a mom. She even reminded me to take care of myself during the long surgery day. Her thorough, thoughtful instructions for aftercare made recovery so smooth.

It is truly impossible to put into words how incredibly talented, amicable and knowledgeable Dr. Tahiri and his entire team are. Our daughter, who was born with unilateral microtia atresia (grade 3), underwent a SuPor implant outer ear reconstruction and surgical OSIA placement in August with Dr. Tahiri at K & B Surgical Center. From the very first e-mail we sent him over a year prior to ongoing communication today, Dr. Tahiri and his team are impressively quick to respond, thoughtful in their responses and never cease to answer any and all questions we may have, no matter how trivial. Dr. Tahiri’s expertise and care are unparalleled and he is meticulous with surgery and his postoperative treatment. The entire team made our 5-year old daughter smile and feel comfortable at every turn while adequately discussing and addressing the nature of what was happening. They took what was a very emotionally filled moment and added brightness and the appropriate amount of levity to it. The nurses decorated the preoperative room to match our daughter’s rainbow, butterfly, princess loving self and Dr. Jumper continuously made her laugh and smile as she was wheeled away to the operating room. The nurses provided updates throughout the surgery and Dr. Tahiri greeted us with a confidence and ease post surgery that we will remember forever.

Our baby had a folded, elf-like ear at birth from positioning in the womb. Our pediatrician was not worried as it was cosmetic, but after weeks of not seeing any improvement, we decided to go see a specialist. We are so grateful we found Tahiri Plastic Surgery. We called & got an appointment within a week. We visited Dr. Tahiri when our baby was 4 weeks old. On the first visit, he put a mold on our baby’s ear. The mold stayed in place for 4 weeks, and we went back for a second visit to remove the mold. And voila! The ear was perfect after molding. We cannot thank Dr. Tahiri enough. Even when he was on vacation during our treatment, he promptly responded any questions we had. He is by far the best.

Prior to visiting Dr. Tahiri, we also got evaluated at the plastic surgery department at CHOC – and they quoted us 4 times what Dr. Tahiri charged + a facility fee for each visit.
