We are very happy with the surgery performed by Dr. Tahiri. He was incredibly helpful and even coordinated with Dr. Nazarian, who treated our son’s eardrum perforation during the same procedure. The ear is healing nicely and looking better every day. We didn’t experience any complications. The atmosphere was always pleasant, and the doctor was always ready to answer all our questions. Additionally, the communication was excellent before the surgery, during recovery, and afterward. In most cases, we received answers to our questions within just a few hours. In this regard, Dr. Tahiri and his team are a true model to follow.

To provide a balanced review, there are two areas that could be improved:

The Pre-Op Experience: We were told our son wouldn’t remember being taken from us to the operating room. Unfortunately, either the sedative dose was too low or he was taken back before it took effect, because he still mentions how traumatic that moment was for him. It would have helped to have 5–10 minutes of privacy after the medication was administered—without nurses and doctors bustling around—so he could calm down and fall asleep.

Scheduling: The post-op appointment schedule changed very frequently, which was a bit frustrating. This was especially difficult with the final visit, which we had specifically asked not to be moved due to our flights home. The change caused quite a bit of stress for us.

Overall, the entire process—from the initial paperwork through the surgery, recovery, and follow-up—was excellent. I highly recommend Dr. Tahiri. The results so far are great, though we are still waiting for the final outcome.

Dr. Tahiri is an amazing surgeon! Our son underwent left ear reconstruction with OSIA placement 3 weeks ago, and while recovery is still ongoing, we are already very pleased with the surgical outcome. Our first interaction with Dr. Tahiri was through a virtual consultation, he took the time to explain the entire process, all available options and patiently answered the questions we had. We later met him at the Microtia conference, and once again he was very patient and went over the details again, something that meant a lot to us as parents making such an important decision for our child. Throughout the entire process, we were in close contact with Paola, who made this journey really smooth. Dr. Tahiri’s team even worked with our insurance to become in-network. Overall, we are incredibly grateful that we found Dr. Tahiri and trusted him with our child’s care. Highly recommended!

Our daughter was born in 2006 with Goldenhar Syndrome. We were unsure if she would be able to hear and were nervous about the surgery options we were given. Her doctors we’re talking to us about a rib graft surgery and that seemed like it was a lot of pain for an ear that may not look as good as the one she was born with.

After years of searching we found Dr. Tahiri. Years of praying had paid off. We scheduled her first surgery in 2019. Our daughter now had an ear she could be proud of. When Dr. Tahiri showed us her ear for the first time I was amazed and so excited for her.

Now six years later in 2025 she is a young adult and wants to wear sunglasses. Dr. Tahiri was confident he would be able to build up the back of her ear to give her enough space to be able to wear glasses. Because she has Goldenhar her skull is a little malformed. Let me just say it looks amazing! It is still healing and I can’t wait for her six months of healing to pass so we can see her in her new sunglasses. 🕶️

The best experience possible. Every time I see Dr. Tahiri, I always think when I grow up (I am older than him 😂 ) I want to be just like him. He is changing peoples lives everyday. What a blessing he is. The first time he gave my daughter an ear I said “You gave my daughter an ear! I couldn’t do that.” My favorite part of my daughter’s ear is that Dr. Tahiri was able to keep part of her ear she was born with to make an earlobe. I think that was so special. She was able to have part of her original ear with the addition of her new ear.

Dr. Tahiri is an Angel! We regretfully put our daughter through 3 surgeries with rib graft and her ear didn’t even look like an ear. We went to a very reputable doctor and hospital because we wanted to be driving distance from home. Our daughter was distraught and we felt like we were losing her. Dr. Tahiri graciously met with us zia zoom and assured us that he can make her a beautiful ear. After a long battle with insurance ( Dr. Tahiri’s staff are an incredible help!), we finally got approved.
Day of surgery was very calm and relaxed. Our daughter was welcomed with a cozy blanket, squishmellow, and cute decor in her room. This put her at ease and she was excited for the outcome. Dr. Tahiri came out smiling with pictures of his beautiful work. Recovery was a breeze and we flew home the next day to celebrate Thanksgiving.
Post op visits are fun and easy. So many awesome places to visit in the area!

Please don’t make the same mistake we did. We’ll never forgive ourselves, so we hope our experience help other innocent children. The trip is well worth it.
